How Massachusetts can limit ICE enforcement: Four recommendations that will help protect migrants.
Though immigration law is federal, state and local leaders can take steps now to protect immigrant communities and make good on these promises. Specifically, Massachusetts should end the last remaining ICE detention contract in the state and prevent the creation of new contracts with ICE; dismantle the Boston Regional Intelligence Center; provide guidance to law enforcement and district attorneys regarding noncooperation with ICE; and reinstate Massachusetts’ right-to-shelter law for all residents.
