I have become a strong believer in the importance of Natural Health & Wellness and would like to help educate the public by sharing my experience and outcome.

It all started approximately 15 years ago. I wasn’t feeling well, so I made an appointment with my PCP. I explained to him that I was eating healthy and doing regular exercise. I also noticed a strange constant craving for red meat. He ordered a battery of bloodwork, and a few days later, I found out my platelet count was through the roof!

High platelets can make your blood thick and sludgy, which may lead to a heart attack or blood clot. To date, no one can confirm that my red meat craving was one of the signs of high platelets, but I know my body.

I worked in the medical field at the time, so I consulted with a doctor who wanted me to see the head of Oncology. That was a scary thought, but I did make an appointment. He did more bloodwork on me and assured me he would get to the bottom of my situation. When the tests left him stumped, he scheduled me for a bone biopsy to look for a blood disease like leukemia. I had the procedure, which was unpleasant, to say the least, but my results came back negative.

My oncologist assured me he would personally monitor my platelets so that when whatever was going on with me would eventually rear its ugly head, he would pounce on it. He told me not to worry. He was on it. Years passed, and my platelets continued to climb, but still no answers. I was perfectly fine with no official diagnosis and went on with my life. I put it on the back burner of my mind while faithfully repeating my bloodwork every year.

When I retired to Florida almost two years ago, I had to find all new doctors. I took my time and researched specialists like I had never done before. I discovered a Medical and Holistic Oncologist to monitor me. That’s right, you heard me, a Medical Holistic Oncologist! He is wonderful. The first thing he said to me was that we would not treat my platelet problem. Instead, we would focus on finding the root of the problem and fixing that. He started monitoring my bloodwork twice a year.

Recently, we talked at great length about medications, and I told him that I would only use holistic options. My new oncologist suggested I try CuraMed (curcumin), which is like an NSAID but organic and natural. We have a beautiful store down here in Florida that sells holistic food, supplements, cleaning supplies, beauty products, etc. I visit it regularly as a one-stop shop for natural, healthy living.

Today, I’m one month out with normal platelet levels. You heard me—normal range. I have never been more certain of anything in my life that holistic and organic treatment is the way to go before jumping on prescriptions that come with a litany of complications and side effects. I am now dealing with an overactive thyroid, and after some research, I started taking Super Selenium Complex once a day. Believe it or not, I’m looking forward to my retest in June.

The bottom line is that it’s your life, and you owe it to yourself to treat it with care and compassion. You must take control of it and treat it like a well-oiled machine. That means what you put in, on, or around your body has consequences. I am living proof that educating yourself comes with some of the best perks in life. I’ll add that my cravings for red meat have completely gone away!

Signed,

Living my Best Life!
