Words have meaning, especially certain favorite codewords of the left

Sometimes, a candidate’s true intentions can be obfuscated in vague wording and generalities. But certain words seep into their talking points, whether intentional or not, that may indicate a candidate’s true priorities. Once you recognize these words, it’s easy to pick up on them and use them to identify the candidate’s origin of influence in policymaking.
Today, the word is “Smart”
—a favorite codeword of left-wing policymakers and politicians. Smart Cities, Smart Development, Smart Energy, and Smart Buildings are all critical elements of the UN and WEF’s Agenda 21, or Agenda 2030, or 2050, or whatever they’re calling it these days. Quincy Mayoral Debate
The recent Quincy Mayoral debate on October 12, 2023, between incumbent Thomas Koch and challenger Anne Mahoney provided several examples.
Anne Mahoney continually referred to her ideas as “Smart Growth” and “Smart Development.”
After noticing Mahoney’s heavy use of the “Smart Development” phrase, I went back to the first debate on September 28, 2023, to see if it was consistent. It was.
Note: “Smart Development around MBTA” relates to the States’ plan for 15-minute cities.1
Innocent or Intentional?
The use of “Smart” phrasing to describe policy issues may just be a reflection of the word seeping into the collective discussion about everything infrastructure. It could be innocent usage not linked to the globalist agenda, or it may indicate a candidate’s true plans when making changes to a city.
Does Anne Mahoney aim to mimic the “Smart” policies heralded by the mayors of Peabody, Salem, and Beverly? (Mayors Bettencourt, Pangallo, and Cahill, respectively).
Does Anne Mahoney want Quincy to be a “Smart City”?2
Separate and Related
On a separate and related topic, candidate Mahoney took the opportunity to state that she was a “Quincy Democrat…a proud Democrat” at the Quincy Democratic City Committee Candidates Night held on September 28, 2023. She then went on to criticize Mayor Koch for leaving the Democrat Party because of his pro-life views:
If Anne Mahoney is so proud to be a Democrat, why didn’t she declare her party affiliation on her OCPF documents?

Even though the mayoral position is supposedly non-partisan, candidates are allowed to claim a party. She could wear her Democrat badge with pride on her filing documents. Perhaps she was playing to the Democrat audience, hoping they would favor her as “more Democrat” than her opponent.
Words are important, both spoken and in print. Voters must pay close attention to the words candidates use. Note what the candidates say and what they don’t. Then watch what they do.
