Ah, September.
Summer is over. Kids are back to school. There’s a hint of crispness in the morning air…
Crisp like a bite into a freshly picked apple.

Apple picking is a New England tradition familiar to most people. I rarely chaperoned field trips when my kids were in elementary school, but I always went on the Kindergarten apple-picking field trips. It was a rite of passage for my children and me. I loved the smell of cider and falling leaves as the afternoon sun warmed the apples that had fallen on the ground. I loved watching the little munchkins try to reach the upper branches.
But most of all, I loved the Apple Cider Donuts.

Heavenly!
If you live in central Massachusetts, I recommend Breezelands Orchards, located at 1791 Southbridge Road in Warren. Have your sound turned on when you click the link below for a fun surprise.

Owned and operated by the Tuttle Family since 1896, it is a great place to spend an afternoon of family fun. It is a spacious orchard with a friendly staff and a well-stocked Farm Stand—including freshly made cider donuts—and they offer orchard tours.
Here’s a list of other orchards around the state:
